kid in my class goes by eclipse now?? would be sick as fuck if he didnt look like jimmy newtron. can he do that???bro didnt change his pronouns or nun jus his name??? is that allowed????? or is he jus mockin transgender people. i kno there prolly a LOT of transgender people on dis site that r smarter than me so let me know cuz!

A lot of my older siblings go by many names not even related to their legal name (not nicknames— think of going by “Leah” when you’re name is “Minnie” lol), and no one cares :0 tbf, as a little kid, I was always shocked to hear their legal names LMAO
People (in the US) are legally allowed to change their first names to anything they want so...yeah! A name can be just a name :D it could be transphobic if the guy was transphobic himself but if he’s not, it’s whatev

I guess you never know if he is mocking unless you ask, but you can probably make an assumption based on the type of person he is/who he hangs with if he would be the type to do that.
but honestly anyone can change their name, I think it would be pretty sick if a dude just decided to go by something crazy like eclipse all the sudden. If that's the case and he's cis he's probably pretty chill.
aigh good. he didnt strike me as the type, he's a refugee from ukraine an idk how shit be down there since i got relatives in Warsaw n they aint like transgender people or the idea of changing anything about yourself from birth. so i wasnt sure. but i think its chill he wanna be an eclipse,, i'll talk 2 him about it

I'm sure just like any group, Ukrainians have different opinions on it depending on who you ask. Having a friendly conversation about it seems a good idea- like "hey what inspired you to pick that name".
I like to think he may just be choosing an English name lol

everyone can change their name if they feel like it. maybe the person you described just doesn't like their own name, and that's alright. if there's no malicious intent behind this situation, then I highly doubt that they're mocking anyone. hope this helps!
