{information} archive web snapshots

hey everyone, just a short one today, we are going to be talking about archiving snapshots of web pages. web archiving is a critical part of the internet, if it wasnt for web archiving some of our oldest and most useful websites would simply cease to exist. saving a snapshot means that it saves the text and media from a webpage, this means that there will always be a copy of that website so long as the snapshot website stays up.

for an example ive actually archived my home page at archive today. a free snapshot maker online, you can also download the page just incase you want an offline copy of it for some reason :).

for an example of when archiving a website has saved precious information see this yesterlinks archive. yesterlinks was a community run web directory hosting hundreds of links before its unfortunate deletion in late 2022 to early 202(three), it listed all sorts of fun websites that can now no longer be discovered apart from through web snapshots. sadly web archives can only hold so much information, as you can see if you scroll down it abruptly stops instead of displaying to footer as well as chopping off a chunk of links.
