The day SoaD decides to play Streamline live again is the day the Earth spontaneously combusts because it’s finally reached its purpose.Â
Out of all their closing tracks, this has always been the first one that comes to my mind. It’s a beautiful song and it deserves so much more attention than what it currently receives. The vocals are extremely powerful and the deliverance +(subjective) storyline give off a very similar feel to the likes of Soil. It’s always resonated with me and I do wonder what significance it holds to the band. It doesn’t feel like a breakup song or a friendship, more-so something forced and out of control. No matter the exact meaning, the heavier aspects of it really hammer in the storyline perfectly; being haunted by the fact that you missed the chance to say goodbye to someone you loved. It’s a send off song in the context of the album as well, providing no sense of closure. That’s it, everything’s done. You have to find your own meaning in it.Â
While I do consider it to be a jarring song to end a concert on, especially considering their other songs and the presence of Sugar as a long-time final song staple, I think it would be something amazing and extremely powerful to see resurface if the meaning isn’t something sentimental.Â
