I think this probably a bit more of a rant but the shift to simplicity really bums me out. I did some digging and found my old Wii and I just kind of stared at the UI for a little while. It seemed really vibrant and more childish in a way. Probably because most of the games on the console were marketed towards families and kids and all that good stuff. But as technology advanced in a way, and video games became more realistic. A newer UI form was adopted to kind of appeal to everyone. Except the appeal is, kind of just nothing :-(.. I really hope as time goes on we'll get some sort of throwback. Kind of how like phones started out big and progressively got smaller for convenience and now they're getting bigger again!!
The shift to flat modern designs is really depressing.

I'm doing business studies in school rn and studying how companies have all been changing their logos and products to be more modern and 'sleek/stylish' is a bit depressing. The futuristic look just lacks character in my opinion

Its so cool that youre following the studies of that :-O but I wholeheartedly agree. the "more is less" ideology killed off so much creative aspect in the design space.

REAL and on that note, the moving icon things on 3DS (iykwim the ones on the top screen) were so. I loved them sm T_T always been a switch hater bc it's so sanitized and "mature" lol

This is so real. I don't really like flat designs, they fell so empty and also comparing the Wii UI to the Switch UI makes a huge difference
