G'day, recently I bought a subscription to a streaming website that specialises in international films called Mubi. I now plan on watching and giving my takes on foreign movies once a week, mostly on Mondays. I will share my journey through blogs here so I stop harassing my friends who don't give a two shit about watching foreign films.
Today's lineup:
THE TSUGUA DIARIES (2021) from Portugal
BLIND SPOT (1981) from West Germany
MARINER OF THE MOUNTAINS (2021) from Brazil and France
I have some time to kill today so I will watch more movies than usual. I am now going to watch 'The Tsugua Diaries' first and I am going in blind. I'll update my thoughts on this blog. See ya'll in about an hour and a half.
THE TSUGUA DIARIES (2021)
I just watched the movie.
this movie was a nice peaceful slice-of-life experience.
The pacing was slow but it works for that type of movie and it wasn't very plot-heavy. It had an interesting approach of showing the event going day to day in reverse, so starting on day 22 and ending on day 1. the movie was filled with long takes which I think helped with the slice-of-life appeal of the film. I also like the lighting done during nighttime shots, it added a nice vibe to the scenes. although I can see this film not being for everyone, the film requires patience and I can see how someone would find it boring.
I give it a thumbs-up
the next film I will watch is 'Blind Spot' though I will take a break and watch that later on in the day. I'll update you when I have watched it. see ya'll then.
