(this poem is about my dog Alex that passed away a few years ago, this poem is about 2yrs old but always manages to make me cry)

Alex

I rubbed my feet against your soft fur 

The days since you left have been a blur

I miss you and I feel like a big nerd

I remember how you loved to chase the birds 

I miss how you used to headbutt my door 

I miss your bark coming back from the store 

I’ll always remember your hair being everywhere 

I miss hugging you like a teddy-bear

How will I ever be the same again, knowing my destiny mirrors the path of the common man? - me
