I mean they're still popular, but seriously. You couldn't go anywhere from the mid 2000s to early 2010s without seeing something with zombies in it. Heck, in 2012 (right in those nightmare years) people were talking about "zombie fatigue" like everyone talks about superheroes now. Call of Duty, Warm Bodies, World War Z, l4d, I Am Legend, Walking Dead. iZombie (the comic, not the other thing) Parodies of zombies, things that have no relation to zombies just HAD to have a zombie episode. Probably why minecraft had zombies.

We also simultaneously had a pirate vs. ninja world war going on at the time.
I supported the pirates, though I’m pretty sure ninjas won the popularity contest lol.

i remember preparing for a zombie apocalypse at that time. I was a kid but i wasn't the only one. it was a huge thing.
