Post the Third

There's one big issue with using this site, and probably the main reason I keep forgetting about it for months at a time:

I can't tell who's sending me friend requests!

It shouldn't matter, and I'm definitely of the era before RealNames(tm) were commonplace online, but...it's a little strange to talk when you don't know who you're talking to, and I no longer have the advantage of receiving friend requests from people who I'm expecting them from.

Maybe I should loosen up and just be more open, but everyone having a phone they can text and message through fifty different clients definitely took some of the magic out of needing to Sit At the Computer and Check Your Messages, or Sit At The Computer to Talk to People, which to me was the most fun part of Using the Computer to Begin With and the thing I miss most. With that went Needing To Sign Into A Social Media Site to Connect with Your Friends, and so this place becomes easy to forget about.

Still, if friend requests included the option of little intros it would probably be really neat.

I wish more people I knew were here.
