The sad story behind Mord Fustang's older stuff

So yesterday I made a blog about El Bailador and electro house / complextro recommendations. I put only two Mord Fustang things on there, Mord Fustang being a big pioneer in the electro house / complextro scene. The major hits from them like Lick the Rainbow and Windwaker, both being featured in Forza Horizon and Asphalt Airborne, respectively, aren't included. There's a reason for that.

So a few years ago, Mord Fustang created an updated Spotify account, sans Lick the Rainbow and Windwaker. That's why when you look up his stuff on Spotify, you get two accounts, one having his older stuff. If you listen to the things on the older account, you'll see that the canvas has "⚠️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION: bit.ly/MFDISCO" along with a QR code that leads to the same thing as the bit.ly link: a notes app Twitter post labelled solemn.jpg basically saying "Yeah don't listen to these older songs, they're on a fishy record label and I have a playlist of stuff that's okay for you to listen to on a newer account."

Supposedly, the label he was working with, Plasmapool (aka. Selected, Noize, etc.), was doing some fishy money stuff that Mord was unaware of, so 6 months before solemn.jpg, he spoke out against Plasmapool. Then solemn.jpg was posted, and in it he talked further on the Plasmapool situation, talks about the situation with Lick the Rainbow and how he didn't see the contract to put it in Forza, and he did something pretty cool: He archived all of the legacy tracks like LTR and Windwaker and put it into a massive .zip file for everyone to listen to, no fishy record labels. He's also very outspoken about the Plasmapool situation, like this Tweet was from 2022.

So yeah, that's the story of Mord Fustang, Plasmapool, and fishy record labels, and I had the idea to post this earlier today when I was listening to Windwaker and was like "Wait, didn't he tell people not to listen the older stuff?" Then I saw the "IMPORTANT INFORMATION" canvas and I was like "Oooh."
