the drama on here is actually wild

pov you log onto your fav retro social media site after a couple months away. you go to blog entries to see whats new. one of the top entries is about some child calling out another child for defending the person who groomed them. the comments are rightfully pointing out that they're blaming a victim of grooming for acting like a victim of grooming. the comments are also pointing out that the OP is a hazbin hotel fan. what is going on here

Old internet drama is one of my interests and the drama here is so interesting to me because it's all happened before... on Tumblr and Deviantart. like actually the drama here and the way it's talked about and called out sounds straight out of 2010s Tumblr or Deviantart, but with modern terms and therepyspeak thrown in. It is important to call out wrongdoers in a community, because that's how a community continues to thrive, but most of the people involved in drama on this site are kids. which is how drama spirals into what is going on here. it's unfortunete but it is kind of interesting to see similar dramas from the past repeat themselves. also tbc i'm not like looking down on the kids involved these dramas, i was legally a child until like 5 days ago. I've never been involved in any real drama myself as long as i've been on the internet, so from an outsider's perspective it's just really interesting.

also this blog post is secretly also about hazbin hotel and similar stuff. i'm personally a casual fan of hazbin hotel because i watched it and thought it was good and nice. as i mentioned before the commenters in the post i was referencing were attributing the OP's mistakes to them being a hazbin hotel fan, and I think that's also interesting because problematic or 'irredeemable' media and the morality of the people who consume it is a super weird phenomenon to me. I've seen people attach so much weight to just. watching a show or movie or reading a book. like enough that they will stop being friends with someone who does.

Certainly there is some media that should be considered irredeemable and if someone likes that thing in an uncomplicated way you should 100% side eye them, such as the genuinely harmful and dangerous propaganda films of the 1900's. And I'm NOT saying that if a piece of media make you uncomfortable, you should consume it anyway. There's stuff that makes me uncomfortable and i don't want to consume it because I don't have to. If something that someone else enjoys upsets you that much, then by all means break off the friendship, it's your life not mine. BUT i just don't think we should be assuming people's morals based solely on some of the media they consume. For example, I don't like South Park, but my best friends love South Park, so I just let them enjoy it.

Ok to end off this really weird rambley blog post, i have a little gripe. i've got a notion that a good chunk of hazbin hotel dislikers haven't actually watched the show. I know I just said that if someone doesn't want to watch something then they don't have to, but maybe don't go heavily critiziing it based off stuff other people have said. like maybe instead just ignore it? or maybe listen to the soundtrack bc the songs are really good like genuinely really good songs. I too love to listen to people critizise something i've never watched but I don't then go and criticize it myself having never watched it. 

OKAY that's all i have to say today. maybe tomarrow i will ramble about university prestige and why its kinda bs
