☆ Finding my "Vinland"

picture of the starry night sky

Dear Diary,

It's been a couple of months now since I finished watching 'The Vinland Saga' and though the anime didn't explicitly mention Christianity, it did help me get closer to Jesus Christ. So, I am grateful for the creation of the manga and anime.

One thing that made the anime stuck with me even after all this time is the idea of Vinland. Yes, it was an actual place, I think read online it's somewhere on the Eastern coast of Canada (more info), I believe everyone has a 'Vinland'. A happy place away from war and fear. We all have our own version of what metaphorically 'war' and 'fear' is to ourselves. Though, I am not running from something but more towards something.

As a Child of God, which I am so grateful for, I strive to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. He was a cool, caring, loving person, who wouldn't want him as a role model? (I know a lot of people wouldn't but that's okay~!). My version of Vinland is this peaceful land with green grass, tall mountains, a farm cottage, a dozen sheep and nice blue skies. Just thinking about it as I write, my heart is calm and at peace, the same way I feel when I think about Jesus.

To end this, here is a Reddit comment I found when finding the metaphoric meaning of Vinland:

"You have no enemies, we are all humans and we are all deserving of many rights and joys. We have to work to create a world where that’s possible."

May God bless you and have a wonderful day,

Izzy ❄
