rant #3: tokyo debunker

TOKYO DEBUNKER IS PROBABLY MY FAVORITE GAME ATM...

i haven't played it for the past few days because i didn't have my phone but i still thought about it a lot !!! tokyo debunker is a brand new gacha game released just 6 days ago but it's been REALLY good so far !? (☆-ｖ-)

it got a release in 8 languages and the translation quality seems to be really good, at least in english :3 the prologue summarized is that you're a girl coming home from a concert when suddenly some one-eyed plant monster shows up on your train and everyone else disappears !!! wowie ! then some crazy dude shoots it with a gun then tries to throw you out the train window... then yadda yadda another dude pops up outta nowhere and brings you to darkwick academy which is an 'anomaly research institution' disguised as a prestigious school (or something along the lines of that). you get taken to a doctor there and he reveals that you've been cursed and are destined to die in a year and you aren't allowed to leave until they find out how to de-curse you or something. pretty crazy stuff (≧∀≦)ゞ

the gameplay is pretty simple... you level up your characters and do 'cases' which are basically just autoplay battles you need to do to progress the story. there's also bonus cases which are rhythm-games; you just tap the screen on beat, pretty easy i think. there isn't much to do besides grind and read the stories, so it can get a bit tiring, but it's still worth it due to how amazing the story is !!!! 

the main story is fully voiced and has live2d sprites for EVERY character... even the animals (^人^)! another thing that needs to be mentioned is the fact that it probably has the most cgs out of any gacha game ever... in almost every chapter there's a comic-like cutscene with super high-quality art each time. the art in the game is all top-tier, but i have to mention the fact that all of the backgrounds seem to be made by ai... （＞人＜；）the cg's backgrounds seem human-made, but the actual visual-novel-ey story's backgrounds are weird and ai-looking. that's basically the only fault in the game's art, but that can be chalked up to the fact that the game went in-and-out of production back in 2020, and the game's entire concept and characters were all changed. hopefully someday they'll make hand-drawn backgrounds for the game ! another thing to note is that the mc is voiced in the comic cutscenes, and her voice is so cute !!! (☆▽☆)

the characters themselves are amazing so far... i love everyone in the game, even the characters i didn't think i'd like at the start (kaito fuji...). my #1 oshis in the game are definitely sho(hei) haizono and taiga hoshibami !!! they're both the pinnacle of my (fictional) type... snarky tsundere delinquent and a wild probably-would-be-an-abuser-irl murderer !!! (≧∇≦)ﾉ the runner ups for my favs are kaito fuji, alan mido, towa otonashi and ren shiranami at the moment !!!

also, something i should've said at the beginning: the game includes some horror content and semi-realistic gore... an example for this being in episode 2 of the story, a dude gets his arms snapped off in a cutscene, and there's cracking audio. in the same episode of the story, a gorey live2d sprite in a whole diff art style is shown of the same guy with half his head crushed in... kinda spooky, so keep that in mind !

so ! in conclusion !!! tokyo debunker is an AMAZING game!!! 10/10 rating from me !!!!! please play it if you like gacha games and don't mind playing as a femMC, it's really good !
