An ode to LBP...
so sony just recently announced that littlebigplanet 3's servers are placed offline indefinitely due to technical issues, which now means EVERY LBP game, both from ps3 and ps4, has had their servers come to an end.
as a person who has always been a super-fan of this game, it saddens me to see my most favorite video game franchise come to an unfortunate end, I remember wanting to get my own ps3 only because I've always wanted to play LBP 1, and when I got both of them, the game brought me humongous amounts of joy, and since then, the LittleBigPlanet series has truly defined such a large part of my childhood... but sadly, all good things eventually come to an end...
farewell littlebigplanet... Thank you for everything❤️🌎
there is some hope though...
though the official servers has been shutdown, there's always private/custom servers!
if youre interested in playing custom servers, check out Project Beacon!

this game was my escape as a child and LBP 2 will always be my favorite. great memories playing all of them but LBP2 will reign supreme muahahaha. side note the mortal combat multiplayer game was always my favorite. I had so many moments where I just couldn't breathe because of the amount of laughter I was in

Beacon player here, I've been absolutely distraught over this news. I rarely ever played on an actual PlayStation 4, but knowing the last official servers are gone, it breaks me, really.
I'm especially worried about the archiving community. I know they have most of the iconic levels on Beacon's servers, but creators like Unleashed_Kitty never got their stuff archived properly...
...And now that the servers are gone, it's entirely possible that ~99% of LBP remains lost media.
I've played this game since I was 4 (so, quite literally in 2008 lol) so it's been a huge chunk of my childhood.
