THE BOILED ONE: ANALOG HORROR REVIEW

✇CONTENT WARNING: disturbing imagery, loud noises, general analog horror-ery

In full honesty this one really surprised me! I heard the name and seen the images in passing but kind of expected it to not be something I would be THIS EXCITED ABOUT!!1!1!

✦WHAT IS “THE BOILED ONE”?

For the sake of clarity I’m going to specifically be talking about “THE BOILED ONE PHENOMENON” video! There are more videos on the Doctor Nowhere channel that I highly recommend also! I might make a mini review on those, I have a little theory of my own abt them! :)

✦ VISUALS - 10/10

Arguably the BEST part of this video and the rest on the Doctor Nowhere channel.

• PHEN-228, “The Boiled One”

The Boiled one himself is a disturbing visual…the appearance of a melted humanoid leaves much to be theorized abt what it truly is…

I’m showing pictures of phen-228 (the boiled one) specifically but the general lighting and presentation of the imagery contributes to its fear factor! Leaves a chill down ur spine, the animation of phen-228 is just as uncanny as its surroundings!

(Side Note: i HATE how much that looks like my room. LOL)

✦WRITING - 9/10

the idea of an incomprehensible disfigured higher being able to do such horrific things is so paranoia inducing!!!!!!! The actions and identities of the organizations/characters feel very real despite the world being very different from our own! I love how mysterious PHEN-228 is written, so often are horror characters ruined by over saturation! (The mandela catalog…longtime fans ykwim /nsrs)

✩ However, I will say that there are moments in the video where the exposition seemed to drag out…I understand it’s necessary for things to make sense buttt I can see how it might be a tad bit confusing when compared to the scares! Sometimes a pattern would form and become a bit predictable :p

SOUND DESIGN - 10/10

the PHEN-228 broadcast? CRAYZEE good sound design. HUGE props to the voice of PHEN-228, who managed to balance between an unnerving yet serene tone! 

CONCLUSION:

Again, couldn’t recommend this more! Go check out Silas Orion and the Doctor Nowhere channel! :)
