fallout show afterthought

heyyy so throughout the workweek I slowly finished the fallout show... and so now I'm going to give my opinions on it after my blog post from when I only watched the first episode! For a game adaptation and amazon show it was pretty damn good, and I honestly thing a good portion of it highlighted what's GOOD about the fallout franchise. Which, to me, as a casual fan of a long time, was much needed after the disappointment of what Fallout 76 was.

Lucy was an incredibly good protagonist, despite her story being a little bit predictable. The first thing I said when watching the first episode after the main conflict was introduced was, "She's going to have to go to the surface to find her dad, isn't she?" and she did. LOL. I honestly can't decide if that's a terrible cliche or if it feels like a callback for people who played the games to detect almost immediately. Nevertheless, I found her character to be almost immediately charming, her initial naivety to what happens on the surface and decision to keep earnest and "do onto those w hat you want done onto yourself" even after The Ghoul treats her like shit and tries to sell her organs for vials was great. I like how despite this, she's not stupid and knows when to properly act to defend herself and how to make quick decisions. I have less to say on Maximus because I kind of was adverse to his character at the start because I don't really like the brotherhood, but he grew on me! I wish him and Lucy didn't have a romance plot, though, very unnecessary.

I think the plot twist at the end was very good, I was able to guess that Moldaver was cryogenically frozen as soon as The Ghoul mentioned her knew her... but I wasn't able to guess that Lucy's vault experiment was almost all of the vault-tec scientists being frozen. The fact that her dad was too, and was the one who killed her mother was crazy. It was a good plot twist that kind of reminded me of gotg 2. I think the last few episodes were so engaging that it made me remember WHY the Fallout franchise can be so enjoyable, and it's when they actually put interesting politics into it and explore it... it's why I found Fallout 4 sooo boring, I never finished it, the conflict was just so plain? Fallout is best when it actually tries to criticize capitalism, the cold war, and nuclear warfare, which the show did fairly well! I'm excited to see more.

Okay I'm done I realize this is way too long and I rambled, I still have some more thoughts but that's basically it. I hope the pattern of games being made into TV shows continues to be as good as this and TLOU was.

I'd say you should! It's a pretty good show, and even if it's not like... award winning levels of good, I found it really entertaining. I never got bored while watching it. :P
