Video Game Review #2 - One Armed Cook

To spice things up, I picked a random game from my Steam library, and the lucky choice was One-Armed Cook. It's a fun game, perfect for enjoying with friends.

One-Armed Cook offers chaotic co-op cooking fun for up to four players. Whether you prefer teamwork or flying solo, you can set your own rhythm. The quirky physics-based gameplay adds to the chaos and struggle of the game. The one-arm gameplay can make it extremely difficult to work multiple steps. Also, your arm being a static object means you can easily knock into it and erase all of your progress. It can recreate a fast-paced and frustrating yet fun environment. My friends and I have had a lot of fun in this game to the point where we have all been crying due to the stupidity and chaos it can cause.

In total, I have put around 2 hours into the game. Now, while you may think that it is not a lot, in this game, it is. The gameplay, while fun, can be repetitive, and some of the physics are not 100%. This can lead to items clipping through surfaces or just disappearing entirely out of existence. Depending on how you set up the game, you will either have a timer or not; however, this does not affect the customers that come in. You may be halfway through making their food, and they will just get up and leave, which can be ultra annoying when you are still trying to learn or when you do some more complex levels like the burgers. Plus, the gameplay after a while is all the same, even while switching the levels, which can get boring.

This game has created some great memories for me, and I will go back to this game from time to time to play it again. Despite its flaws, there's one major reason why I strongly recommend this game—it's completely free! It's online play, and it's completely free for all, so while you and your friends may be looking for your next game to burn a couple of hours together being silly, this game is perfect for it. It doesn't need a super powerful PC to run on and doesn't require you to spend money on it; that is pretty rare nowadays. You can spend money on the DLCs to unlock more levels, which I haven't done, so I am unable to recommend it if it is worth it. But I am a believer in supporting your local game developers if you really love the game so do it if you like it. I probably will when I've put a few more hours into the game with my friends, and we can get bored of playing the same levels.

So, right now, it's free on Steam as it has always been, and the DLCs are all under £5.

I hope you enjoyed this review as well, I'm going to try and do a new one every few days unless I'm stuck in a work pit or sick. Can't wait for people to read the next one 😊
