♰ ︲MBTI Journey

Disclaimer: This is me just mostly yapping about MBTI and my frustration with it lmao.

I have recently gotten into MBTI right after the breakup with my ex-girlfriend and I think I started this decent as a way to avoid dealing with the emotions of what happened. Either way it's been a couple of months since I first jumped into the rabbit hole of this whole community. I can safely say I don't think I've ever been more confused or seen so many contradicting things. One source will say certain types are the TRUE extroverts or the TRUE introverts of the 16 personality types. When some also say "Well actually, I am ambivert!" Ok great. So, what now? What am I to believe? I understand that it's impossible for one person to fit neatly into a box but then what would be the purpose of even creating boxes? It made sense years ago some old white guy made this system up and but why. I understand it's to categorize us humans and to make sense as to why we are the way we are and why we do the things we do. It's impossible for any of us to fit neatly and then you have to take into account the enneagram type of the person but also you have other people from the MBTI communities telling you certain MBTI cannot possibly be combined with a certain enneagram or tri type. Which is fine whatever but all of it is just theories as I also see people arguing that your enneagram is separate from your MBTI and just furthers analyzes your personality or offer more insight as to who you are or what your fears are.

Then the tri types. The tri types are what's most confusing to me. As I can relate to most of the enneagram types. I think it's at times generic but also not because I just sit there and think some other guy got the same type and is probably reading it now or in the near future. Then I hear that no certain tri types aren't possible for certain MBTI and that the order of the numbers matter and that it has to make sense with your MBTI. God forbid your type isn't commonly associated with your MBTI type because you will get "mistyped" allegations. It's very contradicting to me. I went down this rabbit hole of being typed a 6w5 then a 5w6 then 4w5 then with the tri type 469. Then recently got typed as 2w1 259 tri type. Then somehow, I ended up back in the enneagram rabbit hole and got typed as 9w1 954 or 964. Then now I retook some tests compared answers and am likely 2w1 295 and yes there is a difference. What exactly the difference is? I'm not sure. Either way I feel like it's been a sort of roller coaster (yet can't help but feel it a waste of time).

As well as my MBTI type. I first was typed as INFP back in high school when I was 17 and took the 16 personalities test. Which, I know is not entirely accurate. So, then now that I'm 21 I had AI type me and was typed as INFJ. Then I was recommended to take the Michael Caloz test and was typed as ISFP then I re-took it and got INTJ. But my second-best result was always INFJ. From there I took several other tests and also got INFJ. (Sakinorva, HumanMetrics, Truity, and various Ai) Some Ai had typed me as INFP and INTP as well. Yet, I continue to be typed as INFJ. I have even gotten to the point where I asked my mother (She doesn't know a thing about MBTI and thought I was talking about the Zodiac for most of the conversation.) and she said I sounded like INFP. I saw a theory that one cannot be accurately typed at my age as my brain has not yet fully developed and I'm not sure of myself yet. Either way I don't think I will have a very clear answer as of now, but I hope that in the future I will have a better understanding of myself and answer younger Me's question about our type. For now, I believe INFJ to be the most fitting.

Also, the other systems are just as confusing and all of the contradicting theories. As the people on PDB have a way of typing out your big 5 into letters. Apparently, I am RLOAI in the big 5 but it's so confusing to even get those letters I did it in a way without having to get a spreadsheet and figure it all out with percentages. So, now I have completed my PDB profile page lmao. I found that my type RLOAI is most common amongst INFJ, INTJ, INTP, INFP and ISFP. All of these types I have been mistyped as before so maybe that answers my other question as to why I get mistyped as one of those types. Either way I found all of this extremely interesting and insightful as I have done so much introspection and realized how much of a pushover I can be. It required me to be real with myself to better analyze myself and my behavior. All for these systems to just tell me I'm too in my head which i already knew. My Ni being much too high but i feel like i only use it for stupid things at times and I'm not some Ghandhi or Jesus.  I'm just some rando who's spends too much time on the internet and in their heads more than what's considered normal.  I may continue to update this blog so I can rant more about MBTI. Either way I want to rant about other theories and perspectives I have come across in my research.
