Which are in fact two films :
- Minuscule : La Vallée des fourmis perdues (released in 2014), known as Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants in English
- Minuscule 2 : Les Mandibules du bout du monde (released in 2015), known as Minuscule 2: Mandibles from Far Away in English (A Minuscule Adventure in the UK for some reasons)
Genre/theme : Adventure, absolute cuteness and wholesomeness
What is it about ? I don't know how to describe them :')

Die Welle
Genre/theme : Social, political
What is it about ? Based on a true story, this film is about a social experiment made by a high school teacher where him and his students are reproducing an autocratic society ; with the students thinking that because of German history, such a thing could never happen again.
Link to the Wikipedia article about the real-life experiment that happened in Palo Alto, in California :
The Third Wave.

The Social Network
Genre/theme : Biography, drama
What is it about ? The (partly fictionalised) story of Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of Facebook.
Directed by David Fincher, this film is also known for its amazing soundtrack (by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross), perfect dialogues and amazing cinematography ; and I'm not even talking about the 100% realistic hacking scene at the beginning (pretty rare in films), which is one of my favourite one (as well as many others).
Original language : English
Country of origin : 🇺🇸 United States
Year of release : 2010
United 93
Genre/theme : Recent history, reconstitution, aviation
What is it about ? The hijack of United Airlines flight 93, one of the four jetliners hijacked on the morning of the 11 September 2001 ; but also as well the complete chaos that happened in the US sky this morning.
The film is a reconstitution of the event (for the known parts), and tells the most plausible scenario for the unknown parts. Some people, like Ben Sliney, are also playing their own roles ; and the film has been made with the families of the victims.
Original language : English, Arabic
Country of origin : 🇺🇸 United States, 🇬🇧 United Kingdom, 🇫🇷 France
Year of release : 2006
Er ist wieder da
Genre/theme : Satire, black comedy, masterpiece.
What is it about ? Adolf Hitler wakes up in 2014 where his bunker used to be, and discover the modern world.
But, despite everyone believing he's simply an actor parodying him, he quickly decides he has to continue his work...

English name : Look Who's Back
Les Profs
A controversial one for French people, but I loved the comic it was based on so I have legitimity to judge it xD
Genre/theme : Comedy, adaptation of a comic, absurd humour.
What is it about ? A small French high school has a catastrophic rate of students passing their exams (only 12%), despite all the efforts made by the school, the academy's inspection and even the government ; which led to recruiting the best teachers in the country.
The latter having failed, they now hire the WORST teachers ever as a last hope ("the worst teachers for the worst students") to have a passing rate of at least 50% for the final exams.
This, of course, will lead to absurd and disastrous situations.

War of the Worlds (Steven Spielberg version)
I know a lot of people don't like this movie for some reasons
Genre/theme : Science fiction, alien invasion, dark, loss of hope
What is it about ? An adaptation of the 1898 novel by Herbert George Wells, except set nowadays (and with some nods to the 1953 film*), where an advanced alien species try to exterminate humanity to take over the Earth.
The film, just like the original novel, indeed does a comparison with colonialism and imperialism ; and some other stuffs (like warmongering without fully understanding everything about your own goal, which is what the aliens are trying to do here).
Believe it or not, a lot of stuffs in this film are actually realistic. The behaviour of the characters, the alien completely fucking up their plan, and there's even a quite realistic depiction of an EMP at the beginning (pretty rare for Hollywood).
Also, the dark cinematography of this film is breathtaking.
