Thinking about old websites

I just saw a post listing a bunch of old websites and I thought it was so cool to look at! I think anyone on this website can attest to how fun it is finding old internet remnants.

It reminded me of a regular at the coffee shop I work at. His name is Jeff. I figure I can say his first name since it's pretty common and still ensures his privacy. He comes in every day and gets either coffee or some blend of herbal tea. He talks to us about things he's noticed around town, online, etc., and has always seemed like a dude who's just really in tune with the world and loves sharing his life.

Well, I found out a few months ago that he has a website! It has tons of info about him, which would initially raise some red flags, but it's on some isolated site where I'm sure not many people are snooping, so I'm gonna go ahead and say it's harmless. He shares all kinds of pictures, including all pictures of his two sons who unfortunately passed, movie recommendations, and stories of his (Many many) travels. In his "about me" section, he says that he likes to live life to its fullest and appreciate the many things that it has to offer. Jeff is an older guy, and has definitely lived plenty of life. I really admire his passion for the world and his inquisitive nature.

Websites like these make me feel so warm and fuzzy. It serves as a window into what the internet looked like before it was centralized onto a few large platforms. It makes me wonder how many blogs there are out there where people are so kind as to share intimate windows into their lives.
