Poem: A Bachelor's Scar

A scar on his chest, a story to tell,

A man with a past, in his heart, hell,

"Why do you have it?" Someone inquired,

"It's where my heart used to be," he replied.

Years ago, he loved a woman so fair,

Her dress, always black, her beauty rare,

He thought true love, he had finally found,

But little did he know, pain would abound.

She hurt him so deep, his heart shattered,

The pain he felt, nothing else mattered,

In an attempt to ease his agony,

He tore his heart out, with dark thoughts lacking harmony.

He swore he'd never believe in love again,

An oath he made, with a heart in pain,

A man now devoid of any emotion,

His heart, a symbol of lost devotion.

The scar on his chest, a reminder bright,

Of a love that ended in a bitter fight,

Betrayal, the theme of this sad tale,

Of love and heartache, an epic fail.

The man's heart, once filled with love so true,

Now lies in pieces, nothing left to do,

But carry on, with a scar on his chest,

A painful reminder, that he should have known best.
