did anyone else grow up really behind on things? for reference, i am 17. i was born on march 27th, 2007.
i always hear from older people (around 30-40) that people my age don't know about certain things. but like... i grew up with a CRT TV that had buttons and dials on the sides... i grew up with a wall telephone, a homebrewed wii, vhs tapes, a ds lite, and my dad had a very old blackberry phone... i wasn't allowed to use a phone so i had an mp3 player, and i didn't get a phone until i was 8 and even then, it was a very out of date phone at the time, and i was only allowed to use it for emergencies.
i never really understood social media, nor did i like the direction it was going towards as i got older. hell, i'm still very behind on a lot of internet drama, celebrity gossip, and new-age trends. but i'm happy like that, as long as i am still involved with real-world events like the economy, politics, etc.
living in an online world where nostalgia and old internet is getting popular is rather surreal to me, because i've been living that way almost my entire life, where other people are wanting to just experience it again (and some people my age never even remember experiencing it at all!).
sorry if this blog entry seems gatekeep-y, i've just had a lot on my mind today...
