SAW 1 pissed me off

The first SAW movie was good, but I hate the fact that, Doctor Gordon, a person who cheats on his wife, ridiculed a staff member for simply caring about a patient and he's the one who lives. Adam, while yes, he does follow Dr Gordon around, he was very clearly broke and was struggling. So why would he turn down 200 dollars A NIGHT to take photos of a suspected killer and very obviously cheating on his wife which he has a child with, and he just could not just divorce her. Also, Adams skills are much more useful to Jigsaw the Dr Gordon, seriously he'd be able to spy on and take photos of future victims without them noticing. Plus, how would he have been able to get out, the whole trap was basically against him. The aim of the whole thing was for Gordon to shot Adam and kill him to save his family.
