Azalea in the Spring (CHAPTER 1)

Aria’s POV

BEEP BEEP

BEEP BEEP

BEEP BE-

“Oh, fuck me gently with a chainsaw..” I groaned, slapping my alarm clock to get it to be quiet for once. Mondays were the worst, since I’d still be reeling from the effects of a hangover from going out on Saturday night. I reluctantly got up out of bed, stretching for a moment before quickly getting dressed.

Half an hour later, I was walking to college, a piece of plain toast in my hand. I didn’t have enough money to buy many groceries, but luckily bread was pretty cheap, so that was good. Being a 21 year old that both only worked part time and was still in college sucked ass.

It felt like time dragged on when I was in my classes. Mainly because I didn’t give two flying fucks about what was being taught, except for in my dance class. Dance was the only reason I got a scholarship, so I needed to focus and practice a lot.

After my classes had ended for the day, I ended up walking to the coffee shop down the street. It was a small, cute one, where the decorations were better than any big franchise. I walked into the coffee shop, the fairy lights and vines with azaleas giving the place a cosy feeling. I went up to the counter and looked at the large chalkboard on the wall that had the menu on it. As I was in a trance, trying to decide what I wanted to get, a sweet voice brought me back to reality.

“Hello! What would you like today?”

I looked at the girl who was talking to me and felt my face heat up. She looked to be about twenty years old, and had light brown hair that flowed down to her shoulders with a star hair clip. Her eyes were a baby blue colour and she had the most adorable smile I had ever seen.

“Uhm… uh…” I mumbled, trying not to accidentally blurt out that I thought this random barista was cute. I couldn’t keep my eyes away from her at all!

“I’ll have a green tea and a cinnamon cookie.” I finally said, picking two random things off of the menu since I was too flustered to think properly. The girl nodded, smiling at me before going to get my order. I used this moment to try and get myself back together so that I wouldn’t just be having a gay crisis for the entire time I was in this coffee shop.

After a minute or two, the girl came back with what I had ordered. She still had the same smile on her face, and I instantly started blushing again. “Here you go!” she said happily whilst giving me my green tea and cookie, her voice as sweet and smooth as honey. That’s when I noticed her name tag, which seemed more obvious now that I looked at it. Her name was written in a way that was elegant, but legible.

Leah

“Thank you very much!” I responded, taking my order and walking out of the coffee shop. I was definitely going to be coming back here sometimes soon.
