Explainig salo or the 120 days of sodom

Im not going to go much into this, since i only plan to explain the symbolism and the themes it touches on.

not without first givin an introduction for a better understanding .Salo or the 120 day of sodomis a 1975 italian film directed by Pier paolo pasolini , a controversial man not only for this films and writings but also for this private life , declared homosexual and communist , murdered at the age of 51 after release of the movie.

Having already met the late director , let's focus on the inspiration for the film itself . Based on shoy story by the Marquis sade entitled the 120 days of sodom , it was piblished in 1904 after in was lost written 1748 during his stay in the bastille prison.

The thousand and one nights  salo of the 120 days , shows a fascist italy in the famous republic of salo , a name given during the nazi occupation , four rich, libertine and powerful mens , who call themselves the duke, the bishop ,the magistrate and president , who whit the help eigth collaboratos kidnap eighteen young people , nine men and nine women , who are  taken to square near Marzobotto and accompanied by former prostitutes as part of ritual , where they go though for acts ''the before hell , the circle of manias , the circle of shit and cicle blood''                             four acts , each one worse than the other , inspired by those in Dante aligheri's divine comedy

the symbolism is the abuse of power , the deformation to which the human being can reach whe the has absolute power , the cruelty and sadism whe he knows that actions have no repercussions , the corruption in unequal reality of regime that has the power.

The denominations in the nickname are not casual , each one whit a classic states of power , such as the bishop , the president , the magistrate and the duke.Pasolini shows the appearance of freedom as spegism , one in whichb we will never free be from the regime that crontrols our bodies , our sexuality an the ability to think ourselves.

Pasolini ofter draws inspiration from the things he saw under that oppressive state he lived in as young man, portraying an era of political instability and state violence .

Being a leftist i take the opportunity to accopany his critique of the inseparable post-war pairing of capitalism and consumerism.

the inevitable submission to order and repression , the syndrome of collapse and the will to do anything to survive.

in the final scene we see a critique of the modern world that domesticates the bodies the by the hand of power , desensitizing the human being in a pitched battle in which others do not care as long as it is he same .

my opinion is a great film and a symbolic masterpiece that tells a criticism of the absolute lack of ethica and morals, having an absolute absence of ethics and morals.

It is a strong film, an incursion into the Italian neorealism that horrified and generated controversy during its time being censored and banned in some countries. It is not a fast film, it is obscene, it is bulgar but in a good way I think that the things that are literally seen if they had been shown in a more subtle way would not have caused the same effect, Pasolini achieved what he wanted, to shock and to get his message to many people.
