Yeah so CSP had a sale on the new 3.0 perpetual license (i won't even get into the predatory pricing schemes n' shit but iykyk) and i figured, hey, i've tried it out on my younger brother's PC before. so for 21 bucks what could go wrong.
holy shit CSP is actually godly. a few quirks im getting used to, i came from krita and firealpaca. and besides the lack of proper animation support (only like 24 frames on pro license? gtfo) it's definitely my main drawing program now. i'll still use krita for animation tho.
tho, there's a few features CSP has over anything else that imo put it above the rest.
firstly, native 3d model support. dude. so good for posing. it's a bit jank and un-intuitive to pose stuff, unlike smth like blender, but it works well once you bend your head around it. some might say "oh ugh that's cheating" but c'mon that's silly. this is the advanced version of those wooden posing models our parents gave us with a sketchbook as kids. just me?
secondly, shading assist. A FEW CAVEATS WITH THIS! 1. it lends itself better to some artstyles. 2. it's not perfect and does not instantly produce stunning results like CSP claims it does. However, I find that it's very useful for helping with cel-shaded pieces or seeing spots i might've missed when painting. definitely super nice to have.
it's honestly incredible how much CSP, especially the 3d modeling stuff, has streamlined my process. It's like a mental block has been lifted, maybe it's just placebo? but man, I knocked out a comission the other day - one which would've taken me 6-8 hours - in three. THREE. feel like an art god rn.
