Hannibal and thoughts

Lately I have been thinking about how Hannibal is so trapped in his trauma that he became a cannibal, as he mentions "nothing happened to me, I happened" I feel that this phrase not only shows that he was born a murderer but he is also denying the fact that cannibalism is a way to protect himself.
