Murder Drones Episode 7: Review/Thoughts

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

Okay, um, what the Hell just happened?

Let's start from the beginning, the new GLITCH intro (for Murder Drones)! I really like the animations, I'm not the biggest fan of the music, but oh well. V is not in this new intro, but I don't think she's dead, I think she'll come back next episode.

There were lots of jaw-dropping moments in this episode, so buckle up! The first shocker was that the disassembly drones killed humans. First of all, quite a shocking scene, and second, I have several questions, the first one being: why? The second shocker was the fact that Nori (Uzi's mom) was alive to some extent. I can't wait to see Uzi and Nori interact more in the next episode! The third shocker was N's willingness to kill Tessa. N has been quite docile throughout the show so to see him kill what was essentially his mother was unbelievable. The final shocker was Tessa actually being CYN covered in Tessa's skin. This was probably the most horrifying twist.

Okay, about our dead and presumed dead characters. Doll seems to have reached her end and Yeva is also dead. V was teased to come back in the trailer, so in my opinion, V is still alive. Nothing in this episode confirmed her death.

For our alive side characters, J, Thad, Lizzie, and Khan appear to be teaming up to beat the Solver/survive. I wonder how they'll tie into what's happening with our main characters. Also the "sick as Hell railgun" is back. It's probably one of my favorite designs in the entire series!

Now for the funnies. This episode took itself quite seriously so there's only so much I can say, but there were a few humorous moments. Although I find it to be low effort, the perfectly cut scream as a transition to a meme image was kind of cool. The FNAF-inspired jumpscare that CYN does is kinda scary, but it's cooler as a homage and obviously isn't a joke (it's in this section because some people probably found it funny). Probably one the best moments of this episode was during the fight when N writes in oil that he and Uzi hang out which deescalates the tension and causes Nori to slap the solver out of Uzi. This de-escalation doesn't feel shoehorned or random. It was funny and I really wish the rest of the humor was like this. A perfect mixture of dark comedy and drama. Also, I found it funny that N admitted that he was stupid.

Alright, time for the scaries. Since this episode took itself seriously, the horror really hits. The jumpscares are great and silence is used masterfully well. Dramatic moments have their own drama. I don't really have much to say here, you just need to see it for yourself.

Of course, we can't forget about the artsy stuff. The animation was KILLER. Kevin animated N's backstory, some of Solver Uzi fight, and some of the N and Nori scenes. You can view this here. The quality really seems to have been upped again, and this may be thanks to the success of The Amazing Digital Circus. CYN's new design is scary but isn't unintentionally uncanny, I'm glad they were able to balance all of that. Also, there was great use of reflections as storytelling in this episode. Visual genius. The church aesthetic doesn't make the most sense in my opinion, I get the symbolism, but it feels a little shallow.

As people know, episodes seven and eight were initially supposed to be released together. Since episode eight is going to miss the spring deadline, I think episode eight will be released in June or July. We'll have to see.

Lastly, the merchandise got leaked early and we got to see that Uzi was the next standee. I really hope that N is the last standee. If so, I'm buying it!

As always, even though he killed people, N is forever best boy.
