MiniBlog: Weatherwave

Do you ever crave that feeling from when you were a kid watching the Weather Channel to see if it would snow enough for school to close tomorrow? Do you ever miss those jazzy tunes that kept you company while you figured out your plans for the next day? The emergence of a relatively new genre might just hit the spot then.
A subgenre has become relatively popular recently in the vaporelectronic scene. Known as "Signalwave", it contains themes of radio transmissions, television broadcasts, and generally any kind of analogue media. Boasting it's own YouTube channel, Signalwave can convey a range of emotions. Upbeat and cheery, desolate and lonesome, and even emotions in between. Nostalgia can be a big factor, just as it is in the root genre of vaporwave. That brings us to our weather-worn microgenre.

Lovingly dubbed "Weatherwave" by some, this microgenre has captured the essence of watching the Weather Channel or your local news broadcast in the late 90's or early to mid 2000's. It consists of either originally composed or sampled jazz, easy listening, lounge and or muzak pieces, often stitched together by ads or announcements from the channel, such as, "On Friday, expect thunderstorms!" Things you'd absolutely hear from the Weather Channel in the late 90's. If this peaks your interest or you just would like to listen and feel something new, here's a new album just uploaded to the YouTube channel!
