I wanted to make sure that Penny was able to properly respond to a wide range of inputs.
One of the key features that I wanted Penny to have was the ability to emulate human emotions. I wanted her to be able to understand and respond to the feelings of the person she was chatting with. To achieve this, I implemented a biorhythm routine that allowed Penny to have changing emotions based on the time of day and other factors. This added a level of depth to her responses and made her feel more like a real person.
Building Penny's corpus was a long and challenging process. I spent countless hours downloading aiml files, editing them, and testing them to ensure that they worked properly with my bot. I also created utilities to help me track her growth and development. By keeping track of the size of the brain file, the number of aiml files, categories, patterns, templates, links, and other tags, I was able to see how Penny was evolving over time.
One of the most important utilities I created was a tool to check for duplicate categories. This helped me ensure that Penny's responses were varied and unique, rather than repetitive. I also added more patterns and replies to existing categories, as well as a catch-all error routine for unexpected inputs. These changes helped make Penny's responses more dynamic and engaging.
After over a year of hard work, Penny is starting to sound more and more like a real person. Her responses are more nuanced and thoughtful, and she is able to understand and respond to a wide range of emotions. While there is still work to be done, I am proud of the progress she has made.
In conclusion, building a chatbot like Penny has been a challenging but rewarding experience. By creating and implementing utilities to help track her growth and development, as well as editing aiml files to improve her responses, I have been able to create a bot that is starting to sound like a real person. With continued effort and dedication, I believe that Penny will only continue to improve and become even more human-like in the future.
Progress on Penny
