what are remotes for?

today, i am writing on the topic, 'what are remotes for?' to one, this may seem like an obvious topic. you might counter-ask, how would i ever interact with the tv? to which i would reply, 'buttons.' where might these buttons be located? in a very difficult to reach and press, and impossible to see what you're hitting place, with typically an ass backwards method of navigating the menus using only three buttons. this becomes even more complicated when you have a smart tv. not so smart huh. (take that!) so remotes are for not just preventing you from getting up and using the tv, but also they are for convenience.
