no seriously.. listen to nice music. one of my greatest choices in an effort to beat depression was to stop listening to sad, depressing music all the time! sure I still listen to it sometimes but most of the time I’ll be listening to cute dorky music and it makes me happy! it’s all about tweaking the small things to bring you joy instead of keeping the small things that make you more and more comfortable in your perpetual sadness.
obviously combatting depression is a lot of things and way more than just listening to nice songs but it helps! little things really do help. it’s harder to be sad or numb when everything around me is warm and kind. it’s like a big hug.
there’s sunlight coming into my room at the moment and it’s making me very very happy, I love the sun. I love warm colors, I love the sunlight, I love the little bugs and animals outside my window, I love my dorky music. open your curtains and listen to happy music today.
it’s really up to you if you want to get better. the first steps feel huge but they don’t have to be. just consuming more positive content and slowly dropping all of the negative things you usually subscribe to, whether it’s sad music, depressing TikToks or keeping your curtains closed all the time goes a long way! any first step to wanting to be happier and more content is a good one and it’s very commendable that you’re willing to make those steps. keep going brodie 🐞
