The Real Issue With Social Media

Nowadays, the internet has become a big part of our lives, you know? It's cool and all, but sometimes people can get a bit too attached to social media. They spend excessive amounts of time scrolling through their feeds and checking notifications as if they might miss out on something important.  It's not healthy and can mess with our minds, relationships, and work. Emotional exhaustion, dependence on online friends, and neglecting family or responsibilities are just a couple of examples of how people get too attached to their screens. Sadly, some people prioritize their social media presence over their real-life relationships and obligations. Sometimes people get way too hooked on social media and are more worried about how their Instagram looks, who just posted what, when this new video will be released, or what new influencer is currently being canceled. Of course, in other situations, people believe that the information they're getting from the net is "wise words", or they're staying "tapped in" with real events and their communities, when the information they are receiving all have motives behind pushing their ideologies, or to sell items or get people to join internet subcultures, etc. This ADDICTION can lead to a lack of productivity, depression, and anxiety.  Over the years it has even resulted in a decline in face-to-face communication that affects almost everyone in today's generation. Breakups over text, and relations being formed through sketchy websites, are just a few examples of how technology has negatively affected our social lives.

To avoid getting too attached to social media gradually give up even the need to be recognized through well taken photos or well put together highlights. It's crucial to remind yourself of just how shallow and meaningless your social media “friendships” are and to not care about the opinions of others who don't know you for who you are. If you want to stay up to date with real-world events and your communities watch multiple news networks for a broad perspective of what's going on in today's world, and catch up on your reading.
