I live on the internet

It's been 12 years since 2012 when I first started to live my life through the Internet. It's scary to think it has been that long and the cultural moments I grew up with are now considered ancient by earlier Gen Z (Smosh, rage comics, youtube having annotations and customisable homepages, best gore and live leak being around, the battle for top subscribers with PewDiePie being number 1 for years). There is a very clear generational gap between 18-19 year olds and 20-22 year olds as they don't share the same nostalgia as i do.

Since having the internet as my second home, my knowledge about the world - arts, politics, culture and history -  has widened but as a result, my creativity has suffered and my love for humanity has diminished.

Now in a time where I feel broken by the trust of real-life friends and disinterested in the local community around me, I have returned to the internet as my little hiding hole. My safe space. During election year.

However, this time it will be on my own terms without my friends and family knowing about my whereabouts and judging me on what I post or keeping tabs on me. I'll try my best to do things on my own terms and avoid succumbing to peer pressure and micro trends.

The art I'll produce is not to be monetised but to be shared into the abyss of this digital web.
