I was too tired to make a post last night, so here we go.
Hello, my name is Pink, or Pipp, I don’t really care. This isn’t my first time on Spacehey, I had another account, but I moved from it. I’m very fascinated with 2000s Internet nostalgia. Unfortunately, I was too young to really experience it. I do remember as early back as 2007 YouTube watching old Sonic AMVs and animations with my brother. I was also on DeviantArt back in its prime. (Unsupervised Internet access isn’t good for a kid, I know, but I can’t help but feel nostalgic of those days)
This isn’t so much an introduction. It’s more of a rant on modern social media and algorithms and all of that stuff. I really want to go back to a time where nobody really cared about how popular you were or all this “art lore” shit on TikTok that is only an excuse to bully young artists. I really wanna go back to where people didn’t post for money but for fun. I think I have a social media addiction because of it which I know is kind of the point of social media now but still. It’s very mentally draining to think about likes and stuff on my art. (I have Instagram, still have Deviantart but it’s not the same anymore since Eclipse) I haven’t found drawing that enjoyable anymore, as much as it was when I was a kid. I really wanna leave that part of the Internet but I just can’t. It’s so addicting. It sucks.
I’ve heard that there are sites and communities where they try to mimic the experience of the 2000s Internet, but I don’t know which one is the best. Feel free to recommend some though. Spacehey is really cool though.
I do have a neocities as well, but I’m still taking a course for website design. I can go on a whole other rant about how creativity feels dead because of minimalism and how sites on neocities are way cooler but that’s a blog for another day I guess.

I feel the same (I am way more younger then you) but recently I’ve been getting more detached from art because of the internet
Looking back I noticed how people didn’t try to “cancel” people back then and all of this stupid drama
And people were more creative. There’s still creative people out there it’s just harder to find them.
Even though the internet trying to keep me on it, it making me go less on it because of stuff like skibidi toilet (I’m sorry I’m just really annoyed of that joke because of people in my class)

I feel you when it comes to the art community, I feel so pressured to post and with the quality of my art that I'm not drawing at all anymore. Social media is so toxic nowadays, and god forbids if you want to post something that the algorithm don't want, it justs disappear and becomes hard to find, even by ppl who follows you.
There's a project running around with the old Facebook layout, idk the name but a quick search here on SpaceHey and you can find it, seems cool too
I hate corporate minimalism too..

yeah the art community so toxic now. it’s part of the reason I’ve decided to major in film instead of animation like I initially wanted.
I’m looking at one. Is Offline the one you’re talking about? Looks very interesting, might look at it!
Ikr? It sucks that corporate minimalism is the standard now. There’s another person in my web design class that likes the old look of neocities websites. It stinks that if I were to make something like that for class I would basically fail.

Offline yesss, I might check it later too!
I have a web programming class and I do have the same feeling. I would love to make a project based on old internet aestethics but I would probably fail cause of it.
