Have I been wrong about Pita-Ten this whole time??

I really like Pita-Ten, even though I haven't actually finished reading it. It was my first actual manga and I never got the last few volumes. I decided to read about it online, since I have it as my profiles theme now! I would rather know about something I'm making my profile than not know anything. I was really surprised to see that Kotarou and Misha's relationship was romantic according to whoever wrote the Pita-Ten wiki?  Though the Wikipedia page ALSO says that Kotarou views Misha in a romantic way... It's just really weird to me! Ever since I read it so long ago I never really saw it as romantic at all. Maybe this is just due to not having read the entire way through, but still! Misha very much says she wishes to be like a mother to Kotarou, and is very random about what she says. People saying that because she likes to hug him a lot means she has romantic feelings is weird to me, because I don't really view hugs as romantic? I guess I read everything wrong in thinking that Misha cares for Kotarou in a platonic way rather than a romantic way. I've decided to watch the anime and then reread the manga to see if this is the case, or if my reading can really still be a plausible way to view the story. I'm sure someone on this site knows it more than me, and can explain in a better way on why they are romantic. Again, I'll go and take a second look at the media and see if this really is the case. This blog was mostly just to rant about something I never really realized about one of my favorite pieces of media. Sorry if it didn't make much sense.
