q: do you think religion should be taught from a young age?
a: i think children should have the opportunity to learn about religion as a concept, then the specifics of various kinds of religion, like any other topic in school
q: should it be reinforced?
a: on one hand, a parent has every right to influence the worldview of their child. on the other hand, that parent should never limit their child's agency, and they should always remind their child that they will be accepted for any religious beliefs they take on
q: do you think your own religion is absolute?
a: i am an eclectic pagan. paganism is the ultimate in "no, there is no 'one path,' just the path that's right for you"
q: does religion influence who you are as a person?
a: in some ways, yes. the way i look at the world is different. i talk to trees, mountains, even machines and other man-made works. i honor the earth and the natural world. but if you asked my friends and coworkers, many wouldn't even know i'm pagan, and those who do wouldn't consider it to influence the way i act. it's a personal affair
q: does religion play a role in your daily choices?
a: sure. my beliefs are very nature-oriented. i do what i can to avoid harming the planet, within reason
q: do you think praying on a daily or weekly basis aids or strengthens your relationship with your god/gods/ religion?
a: sure, it could. any repeated ritual could do so. me personally, i don't pray often, as i'm still deciding on whether to commit myself to any particular deity, but every now and then i'll pray to the wiccan goddess. it certainly makes me feel closer to my craft
q: what exactly does praying accomplish?
a: maybe harmonizing with the natural energy in the world helps to project your desires to the universe, or maybe it doesn't accomplish anything at all. as long as it gives you a sense of peace and connection, though, i don't see the harm in it
q: do you follow all the rules of your religion?
a: pagans choose what rules they follow. i generally abide by "[if] it harm none, do what ye will." i don't count self-denfense as "harm," though
