A mediados del siglo XIX, Tallie, una mujer casada de un agricultor, deprimida y frustrada por el sueño de una vida diferente, conoce a Abigail, una residente nueva del rancho en donde viven, sin saber que ella le cambiaría la vida para siempre. Why should I watch it?

The World to Come captura la conexión y la amistad entre Tallie y Abigail de una forma muy sensible, suave y delicada; es inevitable que no te llene el corazón. La cinta hace un excelente trabajo en transmitir cómo literalmente la vida de Tallie toma vida y color al conocer a Abigail y en cómo se siente encontrar a alguien que te hace sentir vivo. Pienso que le da un lugar muy importante a la amistad entre mujeres y cómo es vital como un sistema de apoyo; asimismo, deja un mensaje de que la amistad y compañía son factores indispensables en una relación romántica. La única razón por la que yo no le doy las 5 estrellas es porque, en lo personal, el final me pareció brutal y no fue muy de mi agrado. Sin embargo, pienso que es muy ad hoc a la época y sus respectivas problemáticas. Asimismo, contiene escenas de violencia de género y contenido sexual, por lo que no es apta para todo público.

The World to Come captures the connection and friendship between Tallie and Abigail in a very sensitive, gentle, and delicate way; it warms your heart. The film does an excellent job of conveying how literally Tallie's life comes alive and gains color upon meeting Abigail and how it feels to find someone who makes you feel truly alive. I think it gives a very important place to friendship between women and how vital it is as a support system; likewise, it conveys a message that friendship and companionship are indispensable factors in a romantic relationship. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because, personally, I found the ending brutal and not to my liking. However, I think it is very fitting to the era and its respective issues. Also, it contains scenes of gender violence and sexual content, so it's not suitable for all audiences.
