things i dont understand :PPP

HIIIII HELO HI HELLO!!!!!

at first i was gonna tlk about how people online treat gen alpha bcs i grinds my gears a bit BUT this idea popped into my head and im afraid of forgetting it so im doing it now mhm :333 side note, i wanna do that thing where my blog page has a theme bcs those look so cool......also im very busy nd still am, but ill try harder to be on here more!! okok im starting now-

1. the phrase "youre the apple of my eye"

i can understand certain phrases where one thing obviusly related to another (ex. "a daimond in the rough" because its something beautiful or extraordinary compared to the ordinary or ugly or something) or when an object is kind of used as a stand in for something else (ex. "its raining cats and dogs", sounds like id be confused but i think the word raining clears it up for me) but "apple of my eye"????? genuinely makes no sense to me. how is an apple related to an eye?? and how is that supposed to express that you particulrly like a certain someone?????? apples are a pretty average and mundane thing so ive just never gotten it

2. the phrase "you cant have your cake and eat it too"

this is obviously all a me thing lol, i just think the wording is a bit odd for me to grasp. ill try to explain because im not sure if i can. idk, i think i just tke it too literally in my head?? like, its sying you cant have have your cake and eat it too, but you can?? its your cake. i probably sounds so dumb but i promise im not, i just take this phrase way too literally and im not sure how to....not do that :>

3. letting an sources outside of media ruin the main piece of media

whenever i see people saying that a fandom has ruined a show or other kind of media for them, i genuinly can never understand it because ive never had that happen to me ig?? and just to clarify, im not talking about people who have any trauma from fandom that effected how they saw a certain peice of media or anything like that. im just talking about people who dont really seperate media from fandom maybe?? so if the fandom turns to shit, as they do, they talk about how its ruined the peice of media that the fandom stems from, but ive never understood that. ive never once let whatever a fandom does or say collectivly effect how i enjoy and consume media, i usually like the media way too much for that to ever happen :,>> if this has happened to anyone just feel free to explain why u feel this way in the comments!! id like to understnd more :>>

4. scapegoat characters 

specificlly used to comedic purposes. i just never find it funny :,>> think of robin or meg. whenever id whatch both of those shows and see how other people would treat their characters, it would always mke me angry because i could never understand why they had to be so mean to that one specific chracter?? on the plus side, it was always 20x more satysfying when theyd actually fight back or stick up for themselves lol. 

5. lying....sort of

i understand lying. i do lie often, and i do think its mostly trauma but i digress. i mean i dont underdtand people who lie to their friends, make it totally believble, and then laugh at their friend and call them stupid when they actually believed the lie which is a point of a lie....idk. genuinly this is something id never do becuse as someone who doesnt like to be made to feel stupid, i wouldnt want anyone else to feel this way either. thats just me tho!! and im not shaming people who do this ofc, its just something that happens to me pretty often that i find very upsetting :,>>
