Why I think that freedom is a social construct that does not exist.

Sartre talked about freedom and how it is inherent to our human condition, he said that “we are condemned to be free”, which seems to me a tremendous fallacy, I consider that in the current modern world, freedom does not exist, the problem here is that we have a corrupt vision of what it means to be free.

Many think that freedom is the power to do what you want when you want (if you don't interfere with the freedom of the other). I believe in this, but we also have to add that there are indirect agents that threaten our freedom, such as drugs, social networks and capitalism; we believe that there is no such thing as the fact that social networks take away that right to freedom because governments have manipulated us so much that it makes us think of things like "meritocracy" or "the people are responsible for climate change" (of course, the bourgeoise blaming us when they are flying in their private jets).

Its not liberty when we live in a slave world where the only options are having money or dying, Freedom doesn’t exist in capitalism, well, at least not for us this freedom doesn’t exist because rich people can buy their liberty, that’s what money gives them, that’s why jail is designed for poor people.

Nowadays we are slaves of a lot of things, we have the liberty to get high, even if this cost us our freedom, we condemn ourselves by chaining ourselves to the substances, so, no Sartre, at least at this time you are incorrect with what you have said, how can we be free at the same time we are living in a system like this?

We are tied to the material, freedom from where? Its in this point when we lost everything and everyone where we can start to be free in some part, when we have lost that reputation and now, we can do whatever we want regardless the opinion of others, now we can start being “free”, at least in a social aspect of our life.

Talking about social networks, I consider them digital drugs, they messed up our brains at a point where we don’t know what to do without them; we are a lost society, where appearances can be deceiving and there is no relationship with real ties; Tinder is a meat market and our relationships with others are based on exchanges, that’s why we need to keep in mind all the time what Kant said “Treat people as an end, never as the means to an end”.

In conclusion, liberty doesn’t exist it’s our parents; it’s a government invention to keep us calm, nothing is real because we are living in a videogame like Roblox, but instead of being called Roblox, its name is life.

So, we need to start breaking our social chains that keep us with fear and let’s start embracing cringe. Be happy.

I'd say you're correct, we're not really free in our current state, but I'd say that is our natural state if you remove all unnecessary restraints. Obviously some places in the world are freer than others, and we're not completely free to just do anything.

Life is pretty similar to a video game, but a very poorly designed one that you can't log off from very easily. How great it is really depends on how you start out and whether you receive any bonuses to your stats along the way.

While I do agree with some of your points especially capitalism destroying social freedoms, exploiting the working class, making us slaves to our work etc. I believe you reach a nihilistic conclusion far too fast, people rebel against all of these things that you put as "not freedom" such as the government, are these not considered freedom / liberty? Sure, it's hard to not reach a bad conclusion especially with how terrible the world is now, but there's always hope, and since idk if you're religious or not, this hope exists in many forms. Most applicably is that capitalism is bound to fail at some point, much like every ideology and economic system ever invented, perhaps we won't get to see it, but our children, maybe our grandchildren etc. It is too early to give up hope for this future imo.

I really like what you said, you got a point, and at the end there is always hope...
