BRO I LOVE WAR I MEAN I HATE IT BUT I LOVE LEARNING ABOUT IT ITS ONE OF MY SPECIAL INTERESTS!!!! The vietnam war is so so interesting to me cuz of how the American soldiers felt- they didn't really know what they were fighting for, and it was like the least popular war in US history. In WWII, they knew what they were fighting for and that caused a lot more patriotism, but the vietnam was was sooo different in that case. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT ITS SO COOL I've been especially hyper fixated on the vietnam tunnel system a lot, that shit it absolutely insane to me. The idea of a completely underground base that is invisible to any normal person. It seems so terrifying from an american soldier's perspective, imagine being ordered to crawl into a tiny hole barely big enough to fit through, and crawling through a pitch black tunnel full of rats, snakes and spiders, all while its full of enemy soldiers and too narrow to turn around. They also purposefully made false tunnels that had traps in them, specifically because of that. America had to send out a special team called tunnel rats that were trained to clear these bases out. They had to, because these tunnels couldnt be collapsed or flooded. They were built with wells in them, and they covered the walls in clay so they were virtually indestructible. I also think its so so interesting how the two sides contrasted from each other, like sure american soldiers had better weapons and could call in air strikes and stuff, but that wasn't enough against the vietnamese guerilla warfare. I mean they had so many different clever traps, one wrong step and you were dead. The vietnamese soldiers knew the dense jungle they were fighting in too, whereas to american soldiers this was completely unfamiliar territory. A lot of the time, american soldiers had to be led by a vietnamese ally because they just didnt know where and where not to step. They would get in a line behind the ally, and have to trace the steps of person in front of them exactly, or else they could die. I really like WWI too, many because of the trench system honestly. The technology at the time was advancing so extremely fast, literally the only thing they could do to avoid being gunned down was dig. so they dug little holes in the ground to take cover, and then those holes got bigger, and then started connecting, and soon enough they had entire trench networks with underground rooms and all. Obviously that has nothing on the Vietnamese tunnel system, but i still find it so fascinating. anyways thanks if you read all this way, I love talking about my special interests if you cant tell : )

AHH YAYY INFODUMPING!!! ^_^ /GEN

also YEAHH i knew abt the false tunnels that had traps thing, its so interesting!!! in my home country, finland, we had the winter war and its probably the most fascinating war i know atm :P

the techinques finnish soldiers used against the russian army (like molotov's cocktails and motto tactic! (i love the motto tactic and im glad to explain what it is if u dont know btw!!)) were super interesting and the guns & tanks from that era are very kewl!! also we still have some old bunkers here and i love exploring them >_<

YES PLS EXPLAIN I WOULD LOVE THAT

also firstly, im not sure if the term is really "motto" in english, thats what google said, but in finnish the term is "motti-tactic".

central to the tactic was that the enemy forces were broken up into small parts that were then easier to destroy. the smaller troops that were detached also surrendered more easily, which spared the Finns. the finns destroyed the mottis with, for example, mortars, which could save their own troops!!

(i hope u understand cuz im not very good at explaining things in english!!)
