This past Friday, another gig with Rock Hard entered the books and wow what a show!! BIG crowd (forgot what that looked like), great vibes, awesome choice of songs...
Yet I still write my own songs, don't worry.
Cover bands are definitely a trap. Easy money, always a crowd, free food (some places anyway), and you really feel like people like you. But do they really? They cheer for the songs, which is fine. I play the solos as close to the songs as possible but add my own touches. Are people clapping for me or the solo to "Man On The Silver Mountain"? I do hear cheers but...eh, I may as well accept that people are into the vibes and I'm the conduit.
But back to the gig...
From the first note, we were off and running. Everyone played and sang well, the crowd were totally into it. And that proved to me one thing: people love heavy music, they won't admit it ;) Whether it was Motorhead, Rainbow, AC/DC or Living Colour, the crowd sang the words, danced and a couple of over-grown frat guys made asses of themselves. Happens, I guess.
I had a couple of people ask me if I had music on Spotify. At a cover gig? Sure why not! I warned them that the music I do is NOT like what they heard on stage. So I may have picked up new fans, or they will stick to when I play with Rock Hard next. Fine with me. Anyway I can get attention, cool.
And I love when people look at me :)
