i listened 2 No Dogs Allowed by Sidney Gish 2day at my stupid troll job. I had only heard the first two tracks before and was under the impression the incorporation of old audio recordings from elsewhere (A record that trains parakeets to talk & an interlude from an educational 1950s film). Fun concept but that does not reflect most of the album. Honestly this sort of indie stuff isn't my thing, but there was still enough there that made at least some of the songs stand out to me
Highlights-
- I liked Sin Triangle, Persephone, Where the Sidewalk Ends, and Imposter Syndrome
- It tickled me that Where the Sidewalk Ends has a harmonica in it, that's fun
- I enjoyed the analogy of comparing the feeling of not quite fitting in or being good enough with being a dog in a human's world, giving a whole new meaning to "No Dogs Allowed"
- I pretty consistently liked the lyrics fine. "I'm like Japan, before they went and traded stuff to other lands" from Sin Triangle makes me smirk and go ha ha
- was hoping imposter syndrome was the last song because that would be so perfect and then it ended on new recording 180 which isn't a song i care for at least not on a first listen
