My Song of the Week | Week 1

HEY

how's it going? Not too sure if this is something people want, but I thought I'd use my space on this site to promote some songs, known or not, that have truly impacted me or that are just so f̵̨̕u̵̫͒c̶̡̾k̸̗̊i̴̳͘ň̵͇g̵̭̿ heavy that I had to share. Each week I'll link a music video, if the song has one, and explain what it means to me and whatever else comes to mind.
Finally, here's this week's song:
Another Life by Motionless in White!

This song would have had little to no meaning to me if 2020 never happened. Not to get too personal, but I seriously f̸̙͝ų̵͗c̸̱̽ḱ̶̡e̴̤̋ḓ̷͠ up with my last relationship and as the saying goes; "You never know what you have until it's gone" ~some person. And during the 2 week period of me losing her, I started to play this song on repeat. I showed it to her and couldn't stay without breaking down. Now, although this song is incredibly sad and is about losing a loved one, its overall message is what made me be able to get better. All because of the chorus:
"Cause I hate that it seems you were never enough
Yeah, we're broken and bleeding in the name of love
And I hope that we meet in another life
I hope that we meet in another life
I don't hate that I need you"

We'll get to "I hope that we meet in another life" soon, but the "I don't hate that I need you" bit is what helped make me be able to live my days like I did before we ended. Acceptance. Knowing that I know I can't get over you, no matter how hard I try is just sort of... numbing? It's like novacaine; the hurt is still there, but I can no longer feel it as long as I know what I'm missing. For months I would cry myself to sleep because I hated that I was unable to just get over her; to forget it all. But in the end I had to realize that I don't hate that I need you, but I need to live with you gone.

"I hope that we meet in another life" is self explanatory. Just hoping we are put back into the same circumstances we had when we first met, but without the mistakes that made you leave.

And yea, that's my first song of the week! Not sure if anyone cares, or really even wants this, but it feels good putting the heart out there. Oh, and not all songs are gonna be this personal. I just wanted to start this with one that still brings tears to my eyes and makes me glad that I can grow as a person. Either way, I hope y'all like the song, and I'll be back next Thursday with another banger!
