about studying… i think some of y’all need to hear this.

some studying tips from me !

okay like i see a lot of people studying in ways that i personally think is SO ineffective

like for example, opening up a ppt and litro js copying the notes down again. ur wasting time! 

and yes, i’m aware that every1 has their own ways of studying that suit them best based on their approach to learning, but keep in mind that not all of these techniques are efficient. 

A few tips; 

DONT copy down a whole paragraph/slide and re read it over and over again, 

DO copy down key points that you need to know and simplify (if needed) so you can reword it yourself without struggling. 

DONT repeat/go over the same question/topic again and again, 

DO move onto the next topic by urself if you can after you’re very sure you understand the last points well. 

DONT keep your phone near you whilst studying, majority of the time you’ll get distracted by it. (and if you don’t, well done you!)

DO ask someone to keep if for you/power it off when studying. this reduces chances of getting that dopamine rush from a certain notification u may see. 

DONT study one topic for a very long period of time. this way you can only think about when you are about to stop studying, and ur brain doesn’t want to absorb the information you need,

DO study one topic over a shorter period of time (e.g. 15 mins for one topic) and take small, 5-7 min breaks in between. 

DONT be unorganised. this leads to inconsistency,

DO plan your time out well. this can boost motivation to study.

DONT just move on from a topic after you think you know it well, you probably don’t 

DO quiz or test yourself afterwards to assure your knowledge on that topic is ingrained in your brain. 

i will probably add some more later, but these are the main tips i picked up myself which i think are really helpful, imo!
