I wanted to write blog posts about music that i love and cherish. i wanted to start off with an emotionally resonant band i have been in love with for the past 14 years.

eths

eths was a french metal band that captivated with their music. their unique blend of metal sounds, including incorporating aspects of nu metal, death metal, and alternative metal, created something so beautiful. led by vocalist candice clot, eths delivered raw and emotive performances that i resonated with so deeply - when i first discovered them, i could not believe the beauty i was hearing.

from the moment i first heard them (from the album soma), i was immediately drawn in by their powerful melodies, intricate instrumentation, and horrific, yet beautiful lyrics. candice clot's vocals were particularly mesmerizing, ranging from haunting whispers to visceral screams, conveying melancholy, fear and rage.

one aspect of eths' music that stands out is their ability to seamlessly blend aggressive riffs and pounding rhythms with moments of haunting beauty. i loved the heavy riffs, the atmospheric textures, the basslines, the transition from soft vocals to growls. i used to get lost in their ethereal melodies. 🗝️⋆𐙚₊˚⊹

their lyrics delve into very upsetting themes… I would describe their lyrics as: horrific, beautiful and vulnerable.

i was mortified when i found out candice had left (she left for completely valid and personal reasons), and i could not feel as close of a connection with the vocalist that took her place.. and then I saw the news of their disbanding years ago, and my tears began to flow as I knew I would never hear new music from them again. the music they did come out with, soma, teratologie, the samantha e.p... they changed my life, and i cherish how special they were. eths will always have a place in my heart. their music has helped me through some of my darkest moments, and i love them always.

私が愛し大切にしている音楽について書きたいと思いました。過去 13 年間愛し続けてきた、感情的に共鳴するバンドから始めたいと思いました。

「eths」はフランスのメタルバンドです。彼らの音楽はメタルジャンルをユニークにブレンドしたものでした。ヴォーカリストのキャンディスを筆頭に、彼らは一貫して生々しく感情的なパフォーマンスを披露し、私の心に深く響きました。初めてそれらを発見したとき、その美しさは信じられませんでした。

（アルバム『ソーマ』収録）初めて聴いた瞬間から、その力強いメロディー、緻密な楽器編成、そして恐ろしく美しい歌詞にすぐに引き込まれました。キャンディスのボーカルは特に魅惑的で、心に残るささやきから内臓の叫び声まで、憂鬱、恐怖、怒りを伝えていました。
