Introduction
In the current age of the internet where most people spend time leaving their rants on Reddit or the default notes app, you start to wonder, what happened to opening a good old fashioned notebook and using a nice fountain pen to write down your thoughts and confessions. Writing in journals/diaries isn’t exactly a dying art by any means but it is becoming a little less popular. If I recall correctly my first diary was written down during the pandemic although I’m a bit unsure where it lies now in this bedroom of mine. I was only about 11 or 12 at the time and so my entries consisted of my silly day to day activities as I also counted down the days of me being indoors while Covid broke out all around the globe outside. Then in March of 2023 I picked up junk journaling where I spent time not only writing but sticking in random junk that’s supposed to be memorabilia that represents a certain event that happened in the past. Not every page was a masterpiece of some sort but hey it was fun to do on a Saturday afternoon while my CDs played in the background. It wasn’t the most interesting hobby but I enjoyed it regardless.
How can I start?
It’s easy! Just get youself any sort of empty notebook (maybe you already have one) and start writing down stuff. What exactly do you write about you may ask? Anything! It’s YOUR journal/diary so does it really matter. If you’re clueless on this you can always look up online for ideas, I tend to use Pinterest for this which is also a great platform for moodboards and the alike. Can I do other stuff besides writing in my journal/diary? Yes you can! You can fill it with pictures, stickers, washi tape, drawings, doodles, even the random grocery receipt you got the other day! At the end of the day it’s your decision what you fill it with, as long as you have fun with it. You don’t have to make it all pretty and aesthetic if you prefer not to, just have fun with it.Â
Summary
Uh I think I forgot where I was going with this but uh have fun! I hope this helped with something, whatever that is.
