the slasher genre

this is solely my opinion !!

i have seen quite a few people say that the slasher genre of horror is almost to far gone to bring back. this is something i 1000% disagree with. the earlier movies to be considered slashers had a very serious tone to them, like they all had an extremely similar feel. that was from like the late 60s to the early 90s. when scream 1996 came out, it had an extremely different tone compared to prior slasher films. it could be considered a comedy almost, it has this self awareness and makes sure it doesn't let itself get too serious. since then there hasn't been too many serious slashers, or really any original slashers. lots of remakes, lots of bad remakes. don't get me wrong i love certain remakes (texas chainsaw 2006 :3), but a lot of them just shouldn't be brought up (friday the 13th 2009) anywayyys what im trying to say is that i wouldn't doubt a new era you could say of slashers on the rise. things like thanksgiving and totally killer have come out recently, and have received relatively good ratings !! it seems like these are the first slashers in a whiiiile that haven't just been blatantly bad remakes. i really cant wait to see where slashers are going in the future, despite the possibility of me not liking the outcome. RAAAAAAGGHHHHH I LOVE SLASHERS !!!!!!!!! i hope this makes sense to anyone
