On Thin Ice - l. a. cotton

Dear "Life as a Teenager Viewer,"

Oh, young readers...another great read is about to come your way.

On Thin Ice by, l. a. cotton, is a college hockey romance from the Lakeshore U Series! This is the second book in the series, and after reading the first I was interested to see if the bubbly Harper and standoffish Mason would finally get together. To no surprise...they do! However, there is more to both characters than meets the eye.

Friendly and talkative Harper never manages to get beyond a first date with guys. As the Daughter of the legendary Lakeshore hockey player, her heart is where hockey is, but the guys on campus assume she is just a puck bunny looking for her next pick. Mason, has no interest in developing any relationship outside his hockey team. A one-time hookup is more his style. He feels guilty for leaving his mother and autistic brother, Scottie, so when he isn't on the ice, he's helping his family out. Heper ends up volunteering at a program that Scottie attends and the two strike up a friendship, which Mason has to begrudgingly accept. Slowly though, Mason soon starts to see Harper beyond what she has been labeled as and instead wonders if she may be the only girl who can get past his grumpy facade.

Mason and Harper's relationship meats the trope of grumpy and sunshine. While Mason is mean to her at first, his care for his family ends up winning Harper over in the end.

On Thin Ice is a spicy book from the beginning and throughout the story follows Harper and Mason as the tension in their relationship grows into something like no other.

I hope you enjoyed this review.

Until next time,

Viola Black

xoxo
