Poetry Program

"Black people are a rich people with a rich history. Through our blood runs resilience and power. It is no secret history has not been kind to us, but, despite it all, we have fought, we have won, and we have rejoiced. I will demonstrate this to you with poems by James Weldon Johnson, Maya Angelou, Amanda Gorman, and Sonia Sanchez. I present to you: Black Pride, Power, and Permanance."

I wrote this intro for my poetry program in speech and debate (which I got a 95% on :)) and it's definitely one of my prouder writing pieces. For those curious, the poems I read were Lift Every Voice and Sing, Caged Bird, New Day's Lyric, and Catch The Fire. I love Maya Angelou and Amanda Gorman especially.
