Thoughts on bsd ch113

So I like Fyodor a lot, but I have really mixed feelings on what this chapter means for his character.

First of all, for a character that's been hyped up to be so smart and one step ahead of everyone else (usually), it's kinda ridiculous that he's been failing for damn near 1000 years. He's been alive and plotting and scheming for so long but in the past 30ish years only got remotely close to the book. Being canonically that bad at his One Job makes him really hard to take seriously as a character and detracts from what he's supposed to be. Something about all this makes him a little less interesting too but I can't explain it.

This isn't necessarily bad and not a complaint like the first thing, but this chapter explains almost nothing and just creates more questions. Is he human? Is immortality part of his ability? Idk but I like the theories about him taking the lifetime of people he's killed.

The one positive I can think of is that being alive for so long and traveling around watching people come and go def explains some of his personality. No wonder peoples' lives don't matter to him- they're so short and insignificant compared to his. He's also seen so many examples of the evil and mistakes humanity is capable in his lifetime. Bro is fed up!! He's so beyond caring!! This makes more sense than him having some kind of ~trauma~ as a regular kid imo which is why I don't mind it.

^^ I also think all the stuff implied in this chapter makes it pretty likely the helicopter crash didn't kill him yipeeee

Glad to have Fyodor back and/or relevant but still adjusting to how much the whole 800+ year old flop thing changes his character. Could be worse but this is all just strange. He looks hot in that traveling minstrel outfit though :P
